About - Jason Coplan - Basketball Coach and Camp Director
Some of the camps I attended in my youth during the early to mid 1980's included Syracuse "Big Orange" Camp, KC Jones Camp at Norwich University, and Don Nelson / Satch Sanders Camp. As a member of Brattleboro's first state championship team in 1986, I was listed in Street and Smith's Basketball Magazine's top 500 players in the country along with being nominated to the McDonald's All America Team.
In the summer of 1996, I took a team to John Calipari's team camp at UMASS. While attending at University of Charleston 1996-2000, worked a summer at Tubby Smith's camp at the University of Kentucky. Over the years I have attended numerous clinics and been fortunate enough to see and hear from coaches such as Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, UNC's Dean Smith, Roy Williams when he was at Kansas, Billy Donovan when he was at Florida, Bob Huggins, Rick Majerus, and numerous other top coaches around the country. Nike's annual Championship Clinics, now branded by NABC - National Association of Basketball Coaches.
There are some great memories from my days in the Jr. (3rd/4th Grade) and Sr. (5th/6th) pro basketball leagues here in town [Brattleboro] and although several aspects and rules of the game have changed over the years, the fundamentals of basketball have not and will always remain the same. Offensive and defensive concepts and principles require foundations in fundamentals in order to develop skills to improve. |
